Pilot: The Machine

There are two things that led me to start writing this blog. First, I started journaling every day of my life on August 18th 2016. I have found that through this discipline I really love to write. One thing you should know about me is that I am a very detail oriented person. One weakness I have is sometimes because I am so detail oriented I often miss the big picture. This blog will give me an opportunity to reflect on the larger picture of what I am learning through journaling my life. Second, I feel like I am learning so much and I need an outlet to share the ideas that are constantly in my head. Sometimes I feel like I’m connecting dots between the two majors that I am involved in and I want a platform to share them on.

You’re probably wondering why I’ve decided to call this blog “The Machine.” Well, in the early 1930’s the term “propaganda machine” was first used. It wasn’t until the mid 1940’s that the term would really leak into more regular use, because you know, World War 2. Collins English Dictionary defines propaganda machine as “the group of people, publications, etc, such as of a government, country etc, responsible for the organized dissemination of information, allegations, etc, to assist or damage the cause of a government, movement, etc.” During war, specifically the World Wars, these propaganda machines were always working. They were pumping out new pieces of propaganda and were very good at it. Sometimes I feel like my mind is always working and this is going to be where I put my ideas. So even though I’m not making propaganda for a war that has fighting in multiple world locations, I still feel like a machine of some sorts. Not like I feel like a robot or Skynet because that would be frickin weird, but this blog will contain some of the ideas that I feel like are worth being written about. To be more specific this blog will contain, but is not limited too, history, faith, personal reflections, reviews of my favorite YouTube videos, and questions that I am working through. Some may find this blog very boring, others may love it, or no one will ever read these and it’s just for my own personal use. Either way, Welcome.
